00:16 The bass plays the roll in between melodic, harmonic and rythmic

1:31 a bassline can be driving for the song even if its incredibly simple

3:02 Arpeggio: The notes of a chord played in succession, either ascending or descending

Thundercat is mainly a bassist though he also plays guitar and does vocals. He makes funk, jazz, and rock, though that’s being pretty broad.

Bass Tabs

Bass tabs for Tank!. Tank! is an upbeat jazz fusion song. The bassline is pretty good practice for any bassist, and is generally just very fun to play. Im gonna be focusing on learning the entire song. The song isn’t very complex though it can very tiring to play.

Notes

0:52 starting a song with drums can give it a lot of energy but not a lot of identity

1:57 The most natural things to add onto a drum beat are a chord progression or a bassline

2:16 you could take a chord progression you already know and completely change it by doing different things like playing it backwards or slowing it down.

7:07 Chords should usually be what you add after a melody if you start with a melody for a song.

Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)

I didn’t make a song so there isn’t much I can put here.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

I asked for help when I was stuck on certain things in GarageBand.

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

I watched certain YouTube videos and tutorials. specifically how to get things connected in GarageBand.

Reactions to the Final Version

I was absent when the professionals were here (not that I had a song to share in the first place) but Connor said to “focus on technique and positioning”.

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

I had no song so there’s not much I can evaluate myself on. I think I improved my bass playing though.

Grammar and Spelling

I used Grammarly for spelling and grammar.

Intention (SMART Goal)

By Oct. 12, as part of team # as Screenwriter, I will have evidence of Having a proper outline for a screenplay by How Professional Screenwriters Outline for Session 1.

PRE-PRODUCTION – INQUIRY

Notes

1:31 When you hear a ridiculous idea or a joke, try to think of a domino effect situation that would lead to that ridiculous concept actually being plausible.

3:34 To make a coincidence believable, make sure it is ultimately bad for the main character. If it benefits them, there shouldn’t be a coincidence.

4:50 Have a finite show in your mind while writing. Make sure characters change

6:38 Build the story brick by brick, index card by index card. Fill the corkboard with indispensable plot points until you have enough for an episode.

7:57 Most of the time, doing organic storytelling that stems from character is a good way to go about writing television, but sometimes writing something just for the fun of it might result in great moments.

10:17 Make sure you have a one-liner pitch sentence about your show that gives an idea of where the show is going and stick by that one-liner.

11:39 As a new staff writer, remember to have a good attitude in the writer’s room. Don’t try to change the show, you need to first prove yourself by having the ability to speak in the voice of the characters already in it.

12:37 Your writing won’t be of quality when you first start, no matter who you are. But if you start with an enthusiasm for it and keep at it, you’ll get there.

13:25 There’s no other way of pitching than putting one leg in front of the other. Make sure you really believe in the project and just go for it.

13:55 In television production, you sometimes have to roll with the punches. If something doesn’t go your way, don’t dwell on it, rather try to turn lemons into lemonade.

Vince Gilligan is most well known for writing and directing Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Notes

2:06 Use the story circle when writing.

2:43 take really dumb idea incredibly seriously.

4:21 Follow your inner laziness

5:08 the idea for your movie/tv show is just a generic foundation.

7:11 the film doesn’t have to relate to people for people to enjoy it.

9:20 make sure the film/show has its own “religion” about certain themes and topics

10:07 put characters that come from different generations in the same room. put them in a situation where they discuss a topic.

11:42 draw ideas from your life and who you are

13:22 keep writing pilots and finding ways for people to read them.

Project Timeline

The first few days we went through the storyboard and planned things out-next we started filming the first couple of scenes. We had a couple of issues with missing audio but got it figured out the next day-the next week we filmed some scenes such as a clock, Elliot using his Chromebook, and some more. The next few days we filmed the last scenes-then we helped sort through the footage. Our editor edited the film together while we put together the slideshow.

POST-PRODUCTION – REFLECTION

21st Century Skills

Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)

Celtix wasn’t working, so I used a template on Google Docs for the script. Due to not having Celtix earlier, I was a little late with the script so instead of just not having one during production, I guided the actors on what to say.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

I talked with the editor and director quite a bit. The director and I talked about changing a few things during production (dialogue mostly). I helped the editor match the clips with the script

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

I didn’t really have any tools for working. I watched a few videos on screenwriting. I also looked at photos of other screenplays as a reference for how a screenplay should be formatted.

Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)

It has helped me realize how much being organized can help.

Reactions to the Final Version

Neither Eric nor Abby commented on the writing.

Makyla said she liked how the dialogue went back and forth.

There’s not really to go off of with these, so

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

I think the film turned out pretty good, though there are definitely some things we could have improved on. I think these things are pretty minor, so I think it will be a lot better next session. There were definitely highlights in the film, like the montage. The audio could have used some work, I don’t think we got the audio files from the Mic, so it’s just camera audio. The actual camera angles and shots were pretty good overall though, no shaky or out of focus shots.

Grammar and Spelling

I used Grammarly to check my spelling and grammar.
